Step 1Initial Contact
You have already completed this first step by contacting us for this information.
Step 2Information Packet
Review the information in our Adoption Information packet or on our website at everlastingadoptions.com
Complete the birthmother questionnaire in the packet and return to our office in the enclosed envelope. (If you would enclose a picture of yourself, that would be helpful!)
Step 3Creating Your Adoption Plan
Select an adoptive family. You can view family profiles to select the perfect family or you can ask us to help select the family for you.
Decide on the type of contact you want with the adoptive parents before, during and after the birth of the baby (emails, phone calls, picture and letter updates or actual, personal visits).
You can also choose to speak with other birthmothers during this time to help you understand what to expect. We are happy to connect you with them so you can share feelings and emotions with one another.
The family you choose will hire a social worker to meet with you.
Step 4Meet with the Social Worker
The meeting is painless. This is an opportunity for you to let the social worker know of your needs and to learn how the adoption process works.
Prepare for the hospital experience and know what will happen when you go into labor and have the baby. The social worker will explain this all to you.
Step 5Placement of the Baby with the Adoptive Family
Depending on your state's laws, you will sign your parental relinquishment at 24, 48, or 72 hours after the baby is born. The process will be explained by your social worker so that you understand your rights and to make sure that all your needs are met.
Step 6Post Adoption Services
Information about what you can expect to feel after the adoption.
Receive pictures and letter updates about your child if you choose this type of contact.
Decide if you would like the opportunity to reunite with your child when they are an adult.
