We would like to begin by expressing our complete admiration for your strength in considering adoption. It is a truly courageous and selfless decision on your part and we are deeply honored that you are taking time to read our letter. Our names are Matt and Alicia and we have spent many unsuccessful years trying to grow our family. Having a child is very important to us and we hope that you consider us for this very special journey.
We have known each other since the third grade. Even though it wasn't quite love at first sight, love did eventually blossom for us in high school. After six years of dating, Matt finally proposed to Alicia and of course she said yes! We have been happily married for over six years now and can not wait for the opportunity to expand our family. Matt is a Graphic Designer with a local advertising/marketing company and Alicia works for a Pharmaceutical Company in the Quality Assurance Department. We love traveling, watching sports, and game nights with friends.
We recently added to our family with a sweet, 9lb dog named Buster. We have always had dogs growing up and he is the first dog that is 100% ours together. He loves to snuggle, going for walks and watching Matt play softball. He is excellent with young children and cannot wait until there is a baby at home to play with!
We live in a small quiet town in central Illinois. Our home is a three-bedroom ranch style with a spacious yard. It is our absolute favorite place in the world. Matt is always coming up with different projects to work on in the house, while Alicia spends a great deal of effort decorating. We are excited to convert one of the spare bedrooms into a nursery.
Our home is located across the street from a park where several neighborhood kids play. We are located in a terrific school district that offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities to their students. It is a wonderful community to raise a child.
Our Extended Family
Family is very important to us. We both come from very close-knit immediate families, and just as close extended families. Matt’s immediate family consists of his father, mother, and older brother. His parents live roughly one hour away from them in the small town that both him and Alicia grew up in. Matt’s family is very excited about the potential for a new baby in the family and are already taking steps to prepare for their first grandchild.
Alicia has a very large immediate family. When she was in high school her parents decided to divorce, and have since both remarried. She has two brothers, three stepsisters, and one half sister. Included in her family are eight nieces and nephews that both Matt and Alicia love very much. Our oldest niece is already looking forward to spoiling our child and babysitting him/her. She ensures us that her rates will not be cheap!
Our Family Traditions
Most holidays are spent with both of our immediate and extended families. This requires us to drive all over the state to visit each and every group. At times it can be a little overwhelming, but we wouldn’t give back any of the memories or special moments we have created. They are all looking forward to a new baby in the family to spoil.
One of our favorite things to do is travel. We have been to numerous places throughout the country, but our absolute favorite place to visit is Disney World. There is something special about that place that brings out the inner kid in us. As a couple, we both love sports. Most afternoons are spent watching our favorite sports teams, whether in person or on the television. We enjoy laid back game nights with friends. We have a close-knit group that likes to get together monthly to catch up and just enjoy each other’s company.
What Led Us To Adoption
During our final visit to our infertility doctor, we were told that we had two choices to grow our family; we could either further treatments or adopt. We had never really considered adoption before and decided it was time to research agencies and read different testimonials. When we chose Everlasting, we knew in that moment this was God’s plan for us. Sometimes we have “plans” for our lives and we lose sight of the fact that God has an even bigger/better plan for us.
