Carolyn is originally from Pennsylvania. She is the youngest of six kids, three boys and three girls. Her parents are still together and she is close to her brothers and sisters. Growing up, she was always active and enjoyed sports - mainly basketball and swimming. She played basketball in college for two years, then went to graduate school majoring in counseling psychology. Today she is a school counselor and truly enjoys her job. She likes to stay active; primarily practicing yoga. She also enjoys stand-up paddle boarding and volleyball and is scheduled to take her first surf lesson really soon. She has always wanted to be a mom and can’t wait to have a baby in their home!
We moved into our three bedroom home in April 2017. We have a sitting room on the 1st floor, which we plan to make the play room. There is a nice sized family room on the second floor, as well. Our community consists of many families, some with young children and some with teenagers. We live in a beach community in San Clemente, CA., which offers many parks, swimming pools and activities for families and children. Even though we live in southern California near the water, our community trucks in snow so the kids can have sledding and snowboarding experiences! Our community also has block parties on major holidays, so we mingle with our neighbors and their kids on a regular basis. The elementary and middle schools are within walking distance from our house. We spend a a lot of time outside and are always making improvements to our outdoor living space. We are close to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farms, state parks and beaches.
Our Extended Family
Carolyn's parents and three brothers live in Pennsylvania, one sister lives in New York and one sister lives in Georgia. We try to spend all of the major holidays at Carolyn's parent's house. Carolyn fondly remembers going to Knoebels Amusement Park as a child. Her family had season passes to the swimming pool and a big treat was getting a slice of pizza for the car ride home. Kevin fondly remembers sharing special conversations outside with his father as he fried the turkey on Thanksgiving. He also remembers summers in Louisiana, shaking the pecan trees and his grandmother making pecan pie. He cherishes memories of fishing and camping and trips to the apple orchard in Pennsylvania with family.
Our Family Traditions
We try to spend all of the major holidays at Carolyn’s parent’s house. Her mom still makes all of the food and all the family make a great effort to be there for the holiday dinners. Her family’s most important time together is Christmas Eve, where they break bread (with honey), have seafood and just truly enjoy everyone’s company! The most important holiday celebrated in Kevin’s family has always been Thanksgiving when his mom made vast amounts of food for everyone; his personal favorite dish being pineapple upside down cake. Kevin fondly remembers sharing special conversations outside with his father as he fried the turkey.
What Led Us To Adoption
We would love to raise a baby together from the day s/he is born and try our best to provide the baby (or two) a good life. We have not been able to get pregnant on our own and want to share our lives with a little one!
