Thank you very much for looking at our profile and considering us as adoptive parents. Our names are Wes and Jodi, and our 3 year old daughter, Kennedy. All three of us have such a huge desire to adopt a beautiful newborn baby into our family. We know our family is wonderful, but incomplete without a baby. Kennedy wants to be a big sister and squeals with excitement every time we talk about it! We now know that Wes carries a gene that can lead to childhood cancer, so we feel strongly about adoption rather than having another child naturally. We can't wait for you to read our profile and take a glimpse into our life.
We started dating in 2007 when Wes's younger sister introduced us and thought we would like each other because we were both very tall. After one date, we knew we really liked each other. We quickly realized that we both have strong Christian upbringings and extremely close families. Wes finally proposed in 2012 at an Italian restaurant we love in a small Texas town on a very cold night. In 2013, we found out we were pregnant with our little girl, Kennedy Joy. She is currently three years old and loves playing outside with all of our neighbors, watching the movie Frozen and making crafts.
We are so excited about our new home that we moved into at the very end of 2016. Our home has two stories with two living and dining rooms, 4 bedrooms, a huge upstairs playroom filled with toys and a media room. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac with ten other homes. In almost every house is a young couple with young kids! The kids are outside every day from dawn to dusk playing together. Our school district has won countless awards for its excellence. Our neighborhood has a private community pool and park, as well as many public parks nearby that we visit regularly.
Our Extended Family
One thing that initially attracted us to one another was how important our families are. Wes comes from a huge extended family. Most of his close family live in town and we see them regularly. Every week we see his mother, "Memaw" and his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Albert. They just got married and are hoping to have children very soon. His aunts and uncles on both sides have family gatherings several times a year. We especially enjoy going out to Grandma Coke’s 40-acres of land in the country and playing in her huge backyard. Jodi comes from an equally close family. Her parents, "MeMe and Grandad" live close and we see them twice a week. Her cousins have all moved to different parts of the country, but she still has two aunts who live close and love to spoil her and Kennedy with fun gifts and outings.
One major thing we have in common is our strong Christian upbringing. Both of us were raised by excellent, Godly-parents who took us to church every week and made sure we knew about God’s plan for our lives. We now strive to do the same thing for our daughter by taking her to church every week and saying daily prayers as a family.
Our Family Traditions
Every summer, Wes's family has a HUGE fammily reunion with about 60 people in attendance! We try to go every year and keep up with all of his wonderful fmily members. Every major holiday, including Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother’s Day and Independence Day, we spend at one of our family member’s homes sharing meals and fun conversation. There are lots of little cousins who love to play together while the adults catch up and eat great homemade food. We are very blessed to have such a close and supportive family on both sides.
What Led Us To Adoption
After our young daughter was diagnosed with cancer, it was determined that it was genetic. Our daughter is now in great health and free of cancer! We feel led to adopt a baby who needs a wonderful home to complete our family.
