Let us introduce ourselves to you. Our names are Mark and Michele. Mark is a computer systems analyst for a large company with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Michele is a preschool teacher with a degree in elementary education and a Masters degree in early childhood education. We both really enjoy our work, but Michele is really looking forward to staying home and raising a child. We enjoy doing many things, some together and some separately. Mark enjoys attending his favorite college football games on some Saturdays in the fall. He also enjoys biking, rollerblading, and spending time with his family and friends. Michele enjoys baking and cooking, reading, photography, and has recently started trying out yoga. She also enjoys going shopping and spending time relaxing at the lake. Together, we enjoy going for long walks on the wooded trails in the park by our house. We enjoy going out to dinner together or even just running errands. Sunday is reserved for dinner with our parents. Although we are busy, we always make time for quiet nights at home just watching TV or talking. We enjoy being at home and spending time together. We cannot wait to add a child to our lives.
We currently live in a home that is in a very quiet, rural area. We do have a front, side, and backyard for a child to play in. In the next year or two we are going to move into a new home on a piece of property. The area is a wonderful mix of different ethnicities. Right near our home are three different parks and trails to walk on. It is very beautiful around us and our neighborhood has a small lake. If we go ten minutes up the road, there are many different kinds of stores, restaurants, and a children’s museum. We are an hour outside of a major city with even more museums for children to enjoy. Our school district is a top rated one and is within ten minutes of our home. To get to our home we pass by many farms and cornfields. We love the area we live in because it is simply peaceful yet close enough to take a child to any type of activity they may wish to join. There are many children in our neighborhood for a child to get to know.
Our Extended Family
We both have families who are very excited to have a new baby coming! This baby will be very loved and cared for by family members. Mark has one brother with a son and he also has a niece from his sister. Michele has two sisters and three nieces. Both sets of our parents will be the grandparents who are loving with maybe a touch of spoiling involved. Michele’s parents live in northern Michigan, which will make for wonderful trips in the summer and closeness with grandparents. Mark’s parents live very close by and we all get together for Sunday dinner each week. They are a very close family, which will really benefit a child. Family is so very important to us and our parents, siblings, nieces, and nephew. Michele has a sister in the process of adopting as well. It would be wonderful to raise our children together. We could do lots of playdates! Our friends are also part of our family, as we are close with all of them. Many of them live close by and would provide wonderful role-models for a child.
Our Family Traditions
We love family and all that comes along with it, from visiting to holidays. Michele comes from a family of five, including two sisters and her parents. Her family is very close and all live within two hours of each other. Holidays were HUGE in Michele’s family. Christmas was the biggest holiday of all. Michele’s mom began playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving! Christmas cookie baking was so much fun and even though her parents did not have a lot of money they always managed to fill the room with toys. They all went to their grandparents (both sides of the family) on Christmas day. It was a day of delightfulness. The food was awesome but the time with cousins, aunts, and uncles was the best part of all. Easter was just as amazing and jellybeans and other candy that would not fit in Easter baskets would be all over the dining room table. The glory of candy in the morning was followed by a day of church service and then a big Easter ham dinner. Grandparents were a big part of growing up in the family. We always visited several times a week. Mark’s family was also extremely close. Christmas Eve dinner was always at grandma’s house with the entire family, followed by church on Christmas day. Grandma made a huge dinner for everyone. At home on Christmas day, Mark’s dad went crazy decorating and still does to this day! He lit up twenty to thirty trees in the yard after blowing multiple circuit breakers! He loves Christmas! Mark baked cookies with his mom, brother, and sister. Other holidays were also spent with his grandma and he was always there every other Friday spending the night while his mom worked. His family was and is still very close and does dinner together every Sunday. Extended family is very important to this day for both Mark and Michele. Any chance they both get to be with family is taken. They love the thought of starting new holiday traditions together and having the family at their house.
What Led Us To Adoption
When we got married we knew children would definitely be in our lives. Adoption is something Michele always wanted to do and Mark has the same interest in adoption. Our goal is a family, and adoption is perfect for us. We just cannot wait to share our love with a child. We have been given so many opportunities in our lives and we want to give the same to a child. Adoption and a child would be the biggest gift in our lives.
