We are Amanda and Travis and thank you so very much for taking the time to learn more about our family. We hope that this profile helps you learn about us and that we will be a perfect match for you and your little angel. The amount of love and courage that you have for your unborn child is astonishing and we cannot express to you how grateful we are to be able to share in this journey.
Our story is different than most because we have been blessed with two biological children, but adoption has always been something we have had a deep desire to do. Love is not determined by biology and we know that we have room in our hearts and our home for another child. We want our son, Robert, and daughter, Amelia, to grow up knowing that love and family have no bounds and that there is no greater gift than the gift of life.
We are high school sweethearts who have been together for 12 years and have been married for 7 years. We live in the wonderful state of Iowa and have been blessed with 2 wonderful children, Robert and Amelia.
Travis is a personal financial planner with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in finance. He was born and raised in a strong Christian family with one younger brother. Travis has a very large extended family with over 120 people between aunts, uncles and cousins! The amount of love, laughter and people that you see walking into their family reunions is a site to behold! Travis has always been an avid hockey fan and in his free time he enjoys playing hockey in a men’s league, as well as going fishing.
Amanda is an emergency small animal veterinarian. She was born into a hard-working family and was blessed with one sister who is 15 years her junior. Given that Amanda was the only child for most of her childhood, she always knew that she wanted to have multiple children that were close in age. Sibling relationships are like no other and she wanted to make sure that her children would be able to have those relationships for their entire lives. Amanda was a competitive waterskier in her youth and continues to enjoy waterskiing as well as snow skiing, crossfit, paddleboarding and hiking.
Together we enjoy hiking, snow skiing and exploring the outdoors. It is very important to us that our children enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle and we love to take our children Robert and Amelia exploring with us.
We own a beautiful, 4-bedroom home in a wonderful neighborhood in Iowa. All of the bedrooms in our home are very large, and the baby will be able to have his/her own bedroom once they arrive. Our yard is large and furnished with a jungle gym and endless amounts of toys and games to play with.
We are on the outskirts of a small town, but we live only a short drive away from larger cities that have numerous museums, parks and shops. This area has a wonderful school district and the kid’s school is within a short distance from our home. We even get to see hot air balloon parades in our backyard during the warm months!
Our Extended Family
Since we were high school sweethearts, our families have known each other for a very long time and get along very well. We have gone on several family vacations that include members of both families, and always have an absolute blast! Both of our families are 100% supportive of our decision to adopt, as they know it has always been a dream of ours. This baby will be spoiled with gifts and showered with love. They will have a very close relationship with their extended family, grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins, and of course, their brother and sister.
Our Family Traditions
Most of our family traditions involve spending a lot of time outdoors, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, hiking, fishing, bonfires and marshmallow eating are the most common activities. Both of us have family reunions that include the full extended family once a year, which is always a wonderful time!
Every Christmas, we have a family get-together that includes games, secret present exchanges, and of course, LOTS of food! Family is important to both of us and we want to make sure that all of our children develop a deep relationship with all of our extended family members.
