Hello! We are Howard and Ashley. There are so many words we want to say to you and yet none will ever explain how we feel. The respect we have for you can never be explained. We are and always will be forever grateful for you and because of you we can become a family. As a couple, we have always wanted children and we always talked about adoption. Adoption is not new to our family as there are a few extended family members that are adopted. We believe it's not the DNA that makes a family but the love they share for each other, including you as the birth mother. Thank you again for taking the time to read this. We look forward to talking with you.
We have been together for four years and married for two. We joke that Howard knew right away we would be married and it took Ashley a little while to "get on board". Since then, we have been inseparable. We are a team and it shows in almost everything we do. We can even go camping for a week in a tent and never complain! Our marriage is one that most people strive for. We talk about everything and laugh constantly. Spending time outside and being with our dogs are two of our favorite things to do. We are both competitive people and love doing anything where we can be competitive, In a loving and fun way, of course! Our families get a long so well as if they have always known each other. Even though Ashley's family isn't close we always make time to see them and gives us a great reason to go to FL and NH on a regular basis. Howards family is close and we see them every week. We always make time to see our family and enjoy every minute we get to spend with them.
We have lived in our three bedroom two bath house for two years now. Our development is very small and only consists of 20 houses. We have lots of land around us, a big front and back yard, two ponds, and trails around the neighborhood. Our road has three houses on it with a cul da sac at the end. We have very diverse neighbors making it a great melting pot of different races and ethnicities. We have been working hard on our nursery. We have it a nice neutral green with a tree and moose on the walls. We have a dark brown crib with "our little miracle" written above it. It's a work in progress. We really love where we live due to the safety and comfort of the neighborhood. Sitting on the front porch and watching the sunset is a wonderful way to relax.
Our Extended Family
Family is very important to us. We enjoy the time we get to spend with them. Since Ashley's parents live in Florida, we visit them once a year at thanksgiving and also visit Disney World while we are there! They then come up about 2-3 times throughout the year. Since the rest of her family is in NH, we all meet for a week in the summer and go camping. It's the funniest and most memorable vacation each year. Howard parents lives within 20 minutes of us and we see them once a week. With his extended family, we all get together every Christmas Eve. It's a wonderful time to see everyone and catch up.
Our Family Traditions
A family tradition that we enjoy is our yearly camping trip to New Hampshire. We load up the car with everything we need for a week of camping in a tent. The drive takes about 14 hours and is worth every minute. We then meet up with Ashley's family at the campground that they have spent over 20 summers at. During our trip we enjoy going to the beach, kayaking, fishing and sitting around the campfire catching up with everyone. Two years ago, we made a special part of our trip by going To a Boston Red Sox game. As lifelong fans, this was an experience that brought Howard to tears. Every year it is hard to leave after that week but we are always looking forward to next year.
What Led Us To Adoption
Adoption has always been a topic that we have discussed as a couple. We have a few family members that are adopted and it is openly discussed. We started trying for a baby once we got married but God had other plans and we know his plan is greater than ours. We just knew that adoption was our calling.
