Our journeys don’t always take us where we expect them to, but our paths have crossed at this moment and we are grateful for the chance to learn about you and invite you to learn about who we are. Our names are Clint and Kari and we both have a very strong desire to give a child all the love, stability and encouragement we have to offer. As an adoptee herself, Kari has experienced firsthand what a blessing it can be. We truly admire your courage to consider finding a loving family and hope you’ll consider us as adoptive parents.
We are a fun-loving couple who are young at heart and believe in dedicating time to achieving our goals, while balancing work with enjoying life.
Kari grew up on the West Coast and was fortunate to be raised with her brother, who was adopted by her parents before she was born. Their birth mother was not able to raise them and chose to have Kari placed with her brother. Luckily her parents were open to the idea of raising a second child and they became a family. She is eternally grateful to have been able to grow up with her sibling and would love to give a child (or siblings) the sense of stability, comfort and love that she had growing up.
Kari was raised with responsibilities and a priority on education. She ended up choosing to work full time and later returned to college. She learned the hard way how important it can be to pursue higher education sooner rather than later. She eventually earned an Associate’s degree in Business Administration while continuing to work full time and has plans to return for her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Kari and Clint agree that their child will most definitely be encouraged to live up to their full academic potential.
Clint grew up in the Midwest. After graduating college, he had the opportunity for an experience that was way out of his comfort zone. He moved to the West Coast and found the area beautiful, both in scenery and climate. He moved around a few times and made many friends along the way. Kari and he were introduced by a mutual friend 7 years ago. After a few years of friendship, one of their friends decided to play matchmaker. They hit it off on a date and 3 years later were married. They decided to move back to the Midwest to be closer to Clint's family. They are very happy with their decision to relocate and recently bought a two-story house, which they share with their cats, Raphael and Cali.
We feel that our home is the perfect place for a child to grow up in because it has a large carpeted basement (plenty of space to play) with cute, kid friendly art on the walls and a playset in the backyard with swings, a slide and a climbing area. We live in a neighborhood that has other young children. There are also many parks within walking, riding and driving distance. We have a school system less than a mile away from our home. We couldn’t have chosen a better area to live!
Most weekends our time is divided between doing chores at home and being out and about running errands or going somewhere interesting. We like to spend time at the farmer's market, festivals, walking in the park and soaking up sunshine or shopping at the local stores. We can’t wait to share our home and all our adventures with a child!
Our Extended Family
Family is extremely important to us. Clint's large family is close by and we enjoy spending a great deal of time together. His parents live about 2 hours away, with many extended family members near them. They have always been very welcoming and the true definition of one, big happy family! Clint also has a younger sister. Her and her husband have a daughter who is our goddaughter and have another baby on the way. Clint's parents have always been extremely supportive of everything he's done. They attended school activities even through college; be it band or just picking him up to go home for a weekend visit. Even when he moved to the West Coast, his family came out to visit and took opportunities to see all that they could by driving across the country and back. We look forward to sharing a love of family and all our support with our child.
Our Family Traditions
Clint’s family has always had traditions around the holidays. His extended family gets together many times throughout the year, especially during Christmas and Thanksgiving, to celebrate. Each holiday is hosted at a different family member’s house and all who attend bring side dishes or desserts (secretly, growing up I always believed that we planned our meals around the desserts!). Most recently, his dad’s side of the family has begun gathering at a community center for Christmas because the family has grown so much.
Kari has always loved holiday seasons too! She looks forward to continuing some of her favorite traditions, like getting a new pair of pajamas on Christmas Eve, putting out milk & cookies for Santa or fixing a traditional Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings. She has fond memories of decorating the tree and house and baking and decorating cookies as a child. The holidays were spent at home and at other family member's homes just enjoying food, gifts and good times. She hopes to share all the magic and wonder of the holiday season with a child.
What Led Us To Adoption
We experienced infertility, but our determination to build a family has not diminished. We are looking forward to giving a child a loving and supportive home!
