Hello from Lars and Kirsten. We want to thank you and are so honored that you are taking this time to look at our profile. We can only imagine what you are feeling right now and the difficult decisions you are making. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and for considering us for your child. We have been trying to fulfill our dream of becoming parents and have had to face several unsuccessful procedures. Our path now leads us to adoption to build a family of our own. We have so much love to give and a lifetime of experiences to share and to be blessed with a child to love is our ultimate dream.
We are Lars and Kirsten. We met in 2002 while walking our dogs at the park. We fell in love with each other and three years later, on our boat, Lars proposed. We married on September 23, 2006. We have a very strong, compassionate and nurturing relationship. We are supportive of one another in anything that comes our way. We are our best friends and soul mates. We are so looking forward to our future together and having the opportunity to be blessed with a child that will fulfill our dream. We both have jobs that we take great pride in. Lars is a professional Mechanic since 1980. He has a five year high honor degree in Mechanical Engineering. He works full time at four different yacht yards and has been working there since 1983. Kirsten graduated with a teaching degree in Early Childhood Education. Her love of children was the motivation behind her choice of study and career. She is in her twelfth year working in the same school district, currently in an integrated preschool. There many things we love doing together. We enjoy camping, biking, and traveling north to go skiing with our family. Our most favorite past time is being out on the water on our boat, along with our dogs Max and Murphy. We have family and friends who also own boats. We all enjoy meeting up with each other to swim, grill and have fun.
After we got married, we purchased our first house. A wonderful Cape style, in a family filled neighborhood. This small town community has a rich history and thrives with nautical energy. We have a large backyard for our dogs to play and we are surrounded by neighbors with children of their own. There's always a street hockey game or bikes and scooters zipping up and down the street. Behind our house there is conservation land filled with trails where we bike, hike, cross country ski and walk our dogs which we enjoy using all year around. We also have a wonderful school system in our town, both private and public. We actually have two schools within a mile from our home. There are also several parks and playgrounds that surround our town and beyond.
Our Extended Family
We both had wonderful childhoods. Lars parents met in the Danish Army and after they were married they came to live in the United States. His father worked for General Electric and his mother stayed home to raise Lars, his brother Peter and sister Anne. Both of whom are married. Lars is a proud godfather of Rachel, daughter of his brother Pete and wife Christy, who all live within a 10 mile radius of each other. All of Lars' relatives reside in Denmark. Kirsten's family consists of her mother, three older sisters Tamara, Rebecca and Tina, to which are the greatest influences in her life. Also she has five nieces and a nephew, that she adores and loves so very much. She shares a special bond with every one of them. There are also many aunts, uncles and cousins for which she is close to. Kirsten's family lives only a few hours away.
Our Family Traditions
Lars and I (Kirsten) are very close to our families. We try to spend as much time together during the year. We all get together and share our holidays. Our holidays and family traditions are quite a big deal for us. Every year for Christmas we love to decorate. We carry on our childhood traditions with each other by looking for that perfect Christmas tree. We have special ornaments that we have collected through the years and decorate the tree. We look forward to pulling them out along with all our other decorations. We especially get excited to decorate the outside of our house with all different colored lights. For Thanksgiving the whole family gathers together. We have it every year at my sister and brother in law's house. The table is beautifully set to accommodate 14 or so of us each year. After dinner we all bundle up for a walk, we bring flashlights and headlamps so we can see our way through the wooded paths. The way back always seems so much quicker, because we all know dessert awaits us. At Easter we always celebrate by going to church and having an Easter egg hunt. My nieces and nephew get so excited to hunt for that special (wooden) golden egg. After the hunt we sit down for dinner and enjoy the rest of our time together. There is also a special family tradition that we spend with Lars family. To celebrate his Danish heritage we have a Smorgasbord. The table is filled with a variety of Danish food that includes meat, fish and vegetables that you assemble on pumpernickel bread. Every summer Lars and I (Kirsten ) take a long vacation to visit my family. This is where we relax on the beach and catch up with the whole family. One of our traditions includes our annual clambake. We spend the entire day at the beach boogie boarding and swimming in the waves. Later in the day, we start to prepare for the clambake itself. We dig a huge hole (with the help of my nieces and nephew) for the charcoal. Then we steam the fresh lobster, clams, corn, potatoes and linguica. We all spread beach towels out and have little tables that we eat from. Once our feast is over and right before the sun sets over the ocean we pack up and head back to Noni's (my mother) beach house. This is where there is quite a treasure to be found. A collection of Heart Rocks that we all collect from the beach below. There must be about twenty to thirty rocks lined up along the deck as you walk up, each from a different day at the beach. Lastly, we have the best tradition and that is Boating with our family and friends during the summertime. We always make plans to meet up out on the water. Every 4th of July, Lars' boatyard company has a big family cookout finished off by watching the fireworks by boat.
What Led Us To Adoption
We have struggled for a long time to get pregnant with limited success. We believe that adoption is the way to fulfill our dream of becoming parents, raising a child and showing him or her the wonders this world has to offer. We have so much love to give and to have a child is one of the final pieces that is missing from our lives. We are more than ready to begin and pursue this next chapter in our lives. We hope that with all our hearts that we can be blessed with a child for us to take care for the rest of our lives.
