Thank you so much for taking the time to review our Parent Profile. We really do appreciate it and know that you will enjoy meeting us. We are Brian and Marla. It’s difficult to capture in words the hope and desire connected with our wish to adopt. Our hearts are full with love for the child that we have yet to meet or name. Marla is no longer able to conceive naturally. We are full of a strong desire to give ourselves to a new child and look forward to sharing every facet of life with a new and precious addition to our loving family.
We know that there are many reasons that a mother might consider adoption. Please know and have every confidence that our home is a home that is blessed abundantly. God has provided for us in amazing ways. The child that He further blesses us with through our adoption, will be engulfed in amazing opportunity, privilege and experience. Our home is full of love and life and laughter. We’re busy people that embrace life as the gift that it is and believe that we have an awesome opportunity to be blessed and be a blessing to others.
We were high school sweethearts. We have been happily married for over 15 years and are deeply in love. Our lives are full of extended family and friends. We’ve been actively involved in our church, with music, youth, and children since the day we were married. We love to play games, grill out and vacation. We also love to raise children, teach them, love them, read with them, play with them, and share with them the love and life that we’ve been blessed to experience ourselves. There’s nothing like the giggle of a toddler, their curiosity and discovery is a blessing to behold. Our core values include hard work, tons of fun, and experiencing life at its fullest! Brian loves to grill and Marla is amazing in the kitchen. Brian loves a good pun and Marla still laughs at his corny jokes. Brian is still amazed at the way Marla gives of herself and lifts up everyone she comes into contact with. Our lives include family, church, work, sports, games, bikes, boats, fishing, cooking, eating, learning, loving, laughing, friends, family, books, and… did we mention laughing and loving?
God has blessed us with an incredible home on 2 acres in one of the best suburbs of Cincinnati. It sounds dreamy, and that’s because it is! We have a flat yard, green grass, wonderful landscaping and a gorgeous home. It’s all accented by a bright white Kentucky flat board fence. Our children do and will attend private school. Our home is a ranch and our nursery is right next to our master bedroom. We have a huge finished basement with all sorts of recreation space. Parks are everywhere where we live, but our home is like a park itself. The suburb we live in ties into one of the largest bike trails in Ohio. It’s not unusual for us to grab some yard paint and stripe a volleyball court or football field directly onto our large flat rear yard. We’ve got a great driveway and a nice basketball court too! Our church is amazing and incredibly diverse; our involvement has brought us many wonderful friendships that are enjoyed in our home.
Our Extended Family
Gram and Poppy are Brian’s Mom and Dad. Poppy still works and Gram is recently retired. She was a dental hygienist. They’re both excited to welcome a new addition to our family through our adoption! Brian’s sister Sommer and her husband Ryan live nearby. They are a fantastic aunt and uncle and can’t wait to meet our new child. Marla’s sister and husband (Amanda and Kevin) live less than 10 miles away, time spent with them is always filled with hilarity and fun. Marla’s mom and dad both live out of state but they are great grandparents who make every moment spent with them a memory. Perhaps as significant as all of our extended family is our friendships. Because of our friends, our new child will have aunts and uncles galore that aren’t part of the real family tree.
Our Family Traditions
Both Marla and Brian’s families are close-knit and full of life and love. The men in our family take an annual trip to Canada to go fishing; it’s an amazing time of making memories, full of laughter and adventure. Every year the whole family goes to Norris Lake, we tow our boat, rent a big house on the water, and celebrate life and the summer time. We believe in Christmas and its origin. We celebrate Christmas every year with great anticipation and tradition. Many of the members of our extended family are close to us; we eat out together and play games, carpool, and vacation whenever we can.
What Led Us To Adoption
Marla and I know that there are many families that desire to adopt. The fact of the matter is that we love children. We decided to get married very young and had 2 children. We were blessed with an amazing son and daughter. It was always our desire to have more children. As our children have grown, we have tried to conceive again, for a number of years. Now, as our children are entering their teen years (almost 12 and 14), we have come to terms with the fact that we can longer conceive. We’re still young and we still have love to give! We believe wholeheartedly that God has filled us with a special love and desire for another child for a reason. That reason could be the baby you’re carrying right now. By adopting a child, we will have the opportunity to once again experience the joys of parenting and provide for our new child in amazing ways. We are full of anticipation and love for a life we’ve never even seen or known. It’s an inexplicable feeling. We have love to give and want to experience the wonder of being parents to a newborn again.
